Twelve years in risk and forensics. Then I built NuAi.
This page is the interview you would want before trusting software with your business. I spent twelve years asking those questions for other people. Here are my answers: who I am, where NuAi comes from, what it is and how it is built, the company that stands behind it, and the rule this whole site runs on. If we don't have something, we don't claim it.
The road here
From checking records to keeping them.
That work leaves you with a habit you can't put down: check the record, not the story. When your job has been finding where systems fail, you build differently: the database refuses what shouldn't happen, instead of trusting every screen to behave.
- Risk & forensics
A background in IT, then twelve years in risk management, in government and the private sector, as a forensic investigator and compliance auditor.
- New Zealand
The last seven of them on two of the biggest projects in New Zealand: compliance, processes and systems. Years on projects and software systems across industries and departments, and training in data-analytics software.
- A working business
NuAi built inside a working business, not a boardroom: a working till, real stock, real members, books that had to balance that night.
- Every industry
Then built out, industry by industry, each on a test business of its own: trades crews, gyms, bottle stores, vape shops, cafés and hardware stores.
- The method
Every mistake found becomes a written rule, and wherever a machine can check it, a check that runs before anything is released.
What NuAi is
An ERP you sign up for.
SaaS: software you sign up for
NuAi is software you use in your browser or on your phone, for a monthly fee. Nothing to install, nothing to update: every sign-in opens the current version, and a fix made once reaches every business at once.
ERP: one system for the whole business
It is also an ERP: one system that runs the whole business (the till, stock, buying, staff, the website and the books) on one set of records. Big companies run one. NuAi brings it to a small business, ready to sign up for.
How it is built
One database, from day one.
Every app writes to the same database. A till sale writes the sale, the stock, the VAT and the member's stamp or points together, all of it or none of it, and posts its books entry in the same moment. Nothing synced between programs, no copies to keep in step, nothing typed twice. The industry changes the colours, the words and the menu, never the way the books work.

The till, the stock and the books grew up in the same room, so they stayed one system: a sale moves the stock, writes its books entry and earns the member's stamp or points in the same step.
Each business walled off by the database itself, every fact about it checked and dated. How your records are kept
I spent years examining fabricated records. I know what they look like, and what they cost the people who trusted them. So this site holds itself to the rule I would hold anyone else to: nothing on it is staged. The businesses in its pictures are demo businesses we built ourselves, named as such, on the live system.
The claims register states plainly what is in the product and what is still in progress. No logos without permission, no numbers we can't stand behind, and if we don't have something, we don't claim it. The full register →
The company
Checkable on purpose.
NuAi is built and operated by Nu Ai (Pty) Ltd, a South African company. We act in accordance with POPIA; our Information Officer is registered with the Information Regulator, and I serve as the company's Deputy Information Officer: the duty has named officers behind it, and I am one of them. It was built full-time with an AI engineering partner, under a written method of my own; how the method works is mine, and what it produces is on these pages.
